Alexis Macy Gorin, M.S. serves as the Vice President of the non-profit organization Better Education Foundation (BEF). She joined BEF as an intern in December of 2019 after having a candid conversation about BEF’s mission and journey with a very good friend and colleague who was essential in the establishment of BEF, Ms. Narmin Mekawy, the President, and a co-founder of BEF.
Alexis is a first-generation college graduate, first obtaining a B.S. in Psychology and received a M.S. in Developmental Neuroscience and Developmental Disabilities at the College of Staten Island (CSI) in 2022. The focus of her research as a Master student includes investigations of neuromodulation through electrical stimulation and its effects on the mechanisms that regulate the progression of one of the most prominent tauopathies, Alzhiemer’s disease. Alexis is currently working as a Researcher at the Eisai Inc. Center for Genetics Guided Dementia Discovery (G2D2) focused on the development of novel immunodementia solutions to advance the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
